Shamita Shetty is the younger sister of the Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and this tag has for the most part become her identity. Shamita was born on February 2nd 1979 in Mumbai. The actress attended the St Anthony’s Girls High School in Chembur and later on joined the SNDT College. Shamita quit school mid-way to pursue a career in fashion designing. After completing her fashion course, she decided to try her luck in the glam world and bagged Yash Chopra’s ‘Mohaabtien’. The movie was a superhit, but Shamita was written off as critics felt that she lacked the looks.

Shamita danced in a couple of ‘item numbers’ in Yashraj banner movies ‘Saathiya’ and ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’, but that didn’t do anything great for her career. Shamita started dating designer Rocky S, but broke off with him in a couple of months. Shamita’s negative performance in ‘Bewafaa’, won her appreciation and it was with ‘Zeher’ that the actress proved to be a complete revelation.

Shamita Shetty has not been able to make it big like her sister Shilpa, but she has no regrets as she believes in her destiny. Shilpa is always seen compliments her younger sister by saying that she has a better body, which sure is one compliment that Shamita will treasure for life.
