Sanjay Dutt was born on July 29th, 1959 in Mumbai, India to the superstar couple Sunil and Nargis Dutt. Sanjay has two younger sisters Anju and Priya. As a kid, he attended the prestigious Lawrence School at Sanwar in Himchal Pradesh, India. Sanjay made his debut as an actor in ‘Rocky’ in 1981 that was directed by his Dad late Sunil Dutt. His mother Nargis, who was suffering from cancer, passed away the same week the movie was to release thus, leaving Sanjay Dutt in trauma. Sanjay Dutt resorted to drugs and had to be admitted to a rehab centre in USA. After his recovery, Sanjay Dutt returned to India and starting focusing back on his career and re-established his star status; he also got married to actress Richa Sharma. Sanjay Dutt became a father but happiness didn’t last long as his wife was detected with brain tumor and after she passed away Sanjay lost his daughter’s custody to his in-laws.
Sanjay Dutt recouped and in 1990, he got his career on track with ‘Thanedaar’ and later with ‘Sadak’ and ‘Saajan’. Sanjay Dutt was going great guns with his career and he also started dating actress Madhuri Dixit. In 1993, Sanjay Dutt got accused in Mumbai blasts and was arrested under TADA act. The actor was behind bars for almost a year which led to a slowdown in his career and a break-up with Madhuri Dixit. Sanjay Dutt’s dad Sunil Dutt was a politician and later Sanjay was exonerated from all the charges. Sanjay Dutt’s career hit an all time low until Ram Gopal Verma signed him for ‘Daud’ which helped him get other great movies. In 1998, on Valentine’s Day Sanjay exchanged wedding vows with his long time girlfriend Rhea Pillia who supported him in his troubled times.
Mahesh Manjerkar’s ‘Vastaav’ was a turning point in Sanjay’s career as he rose to stardom after the movie. In 2001, Sanjay Dutt filed for a divorce from wife Rhea Pillai. The actor signed on ten movies to be busy enough to get over the distress.
‘Munnabhai MBBS’ was another landmark in Sanjay’s career as it proved to be his biggest hit. In 2006, Sanjay Dutt turned producer with ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’ and ‘Woodstock Villa’. Sanjay is known to be dating a Pakistani girl Nadia Durrani.
