Riya Sen - Riya the Bengali beauty was born to actress Moon Moon Sen on January 24th 1981 in Kolkata. Her father Bharat Dev Varma is from the Royal family of Tripura and her grandmother was the princess of Cooch Behar. Riya is also related to the Maharani of Jaipur Gayatri Devi. Riya’s maternal grandmother Suchitra Sen was an established actress of her times. As a kid, Riya did a small role in ‘Vishkanya’ where she played the junior Pooja Bedi. Riya started out in the glamour world when she was barley sixteen; her first big achievement was when she was chosen as the Face for Lakme cosmetics. Riya also got many offers for South movies and did two Tamil movies ‘Good Luck’ and ‘Taj Mahal’. Her first break in Bollywood came after struggling for five years and the reason was that Riya was regarded as immature to play an actress and was not even fluent in Hindi.
‘Style’ was her debut movie in which she was criticized for being a glam doll and lacked acting skills. ‘Jhankar Beats’ also did no good for her career as she was criticized and tagged as the wooden face. Riya however; finally made it with ‘Silsilay’ as she took a step forward as an actress. A controversy erupted shortly before ‘Silsilay’ as a clip that circulated showed the two having sex and kissing; and this was a cheap publicity stunt done to create hype before the movie released. Riya however; denied saying that it was not her in the MMS clip. Riya’s biggest banner movie till date has been Subash Ghai’s ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’.
