Raveena Tandon was born on October 26th 1970 in Mumbai to Director-Producer Ravi Tandon and his wife Veena Tandon. Raveena is derived from the combination of her parents name Ravi and Veena. Raveena made her debut in Anant Balani’s ‘Pathar Ke Phool’ opposite Salman Khan. The actress made her mark in Bollywood as she has worked with all big directors like JP Dutta, Yash Chopra, Raj Kumar Santoshi, and Raj Kanwar. Raveena, who became rivals with Karishma Kapoor during the making of ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, had to pay a heavy price as Karishma used her star status and got Raveena booted out of many projects. Rajiv Rai’s ‘Mohra’ changed Raveena’s career as the actress danced her way to success and has ever since been tagged the ‘Mast-Mast Girl’. Raveena and Akshay Kumar’s onscreen chemistry was appreciated by the audiences and the two also dated for sometime. After ‘Mohra’, Raveena started giving dance appearances in many movies as the audiences loved to see Ms. Tandon groove.
Raveena paired with the dancing king Govinda in many of his slapstick comedies. Raveena never made it to the top slot but she did manage to get her share of good movies. Raveena’s relationship with Akshaye Kumar didn’t last long as they two had heavy ego clashes. In 2000, Raveena took a conscious decision to reinvent her image as an actress and focused on serious cinema. ‘Daman’ and ‘Satta’ were the projects in which the actress proved her histrionics. In 2004, Raveena tied the knot with film distributor Anil Thadani in Udaipur. Raveena also acted as the Chairperson of Children’s Film Society of India. In 2005, Raveena delivered a baby girl named ‘Rasha’. Raveena resigned as the Chairperson of CFSI as she wanted to be a full-time mom. Raveena has been very socially active and has never ruled out the possibility of a Bollywood comeback or a political career.
