Madhuri Dixit was born on June 15th 1967 in a middle-class Maharashtrian family in Mumbai, India. As a kid, Madhuri was trained in Kathak dancer. Madhuri completed her education in Mumbai wanted to become a micro-biologist, but she couldn’t resist the Bollywood calling and started auditioning for movies. Madhuri made her debut in a small budget movie ‘Abodh’. Her first big role was in ‘Tezaab’ in which she was presented as a glamorous dancer. Madhuri had the entire nation swaying with her on the song “Ek Do Teen” and she became a superstar after five years of struggle. Madhuri did deliver many superhit movies like ‘Ram Lakhan’, ‘Parinda’, ‘Saajan’, ‘Tridev’, ‘Beta’ and ‘Khalnayak’. Madhuri also; won Filmfare Award for the best actress for ‘Dil’ and ‘Beta’. During the making of ‘Saajan’ Madhuri started dating her co-star Sanjay Dutt, but she broke off when he got arrested for Mumbai bomb blasts.

Madhuri created controversy by dancing on “Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai” in the movie ‘Khalnayak’ as she enraged many women organizations. Madhuri was always in competition with Sridevi, but ‘Hum Aap Ke Hain Kaun’ turned the tables in Madhuri’s favor and she became the number one actress. Madhuri also; won an award for her performance in the movie. Yash Chopra’s ‘Dil To Pagal Hain’ was another landmark in her career as she competed with the young Karisma in the movie; Madhuri also won a Filmfare award for her performance in the movie.  In 1999, Madhuri tied the knot with Dr. Sriram Nene from the US in a traditional Maharashtrian marriage. Madhuri did stay in Mumbai to shoot for ‘Devdas’ in which she played Chandramukhi. Madhuri gave birth to her first son ‘Areen’ in 2003 and second son ‘Rayan’ in 2005. Madhuri still has plans to continue her acting career and would be making a comeback in the near future.
