Juhi always wanted to be an actress and she signed Mukul Anand’s multi-starrer ‘Sultanat’ as her debut movie, but the actress went completely unnoticed. Juhi signed Mansoor Khan’s ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ opposite debutant Aamir Khan in the lead, which became a huge hit and made Juhi famous. Juhi’s career lay low for a couple of years and caught momentum after David Dhawan’s ‘Bol Radha Bol’ in which the director displayed the funny facet of the actress. Juhi Chawla did ‘Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman’ opposite Shahrukh Khan, who connected well on the sets and became very good friends. Juhi also got back with Aamir Khan for Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Key’, which was a big success.
Yash Chopra presented Juhi Chawla in ‘Darr’ with her buddy Shahrukh Khan and Sunny Deol as her co-stars. The hit of her ‘Darr’, the gorgeous actress found her place in the top Bollywood actress tier only next to Madhuri Dixit. Juhi’s innocent giggles got her roles in many comedy movies and in 1997, her ‘Yes Boss’, ‘Dewana Mastana’, ‘Ishq’ and ‘Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi’ were all declared as superhit thus, Juhi gave the leading actress Madhuri a run for her money.
Juhi was rumored to be involved in a clandestine affair with Shahrukh Khan. In 1998, tragedy struck with the sudden demise of her mother, who met with an accident when Juhi was shooting in Prague. Juhi fulfilled her mom’s last wish and tied the knot with industrialist Jai Mehta. In 1999, Juhi along with her buddy Shahrukh formed a movie production company ‘Dreamz Unlimited’ and their first venture was ‘Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani’; the movie failed at the box-office and their second mega budget movie ‘Asoka’ also bombed, but some relief came in the form of ‘Chalte Chalte’ with Rani and Shahrukh in the lead.
Juhi is the mother of two kids, daughter Jhanvi and son Arjun, who accompany the actress for the shoot of her movies. Juhi is trying to make a comeback, but all her movie have failed to impress the critics however; Juhi is now banking on ‘Salaam-E-Ishq’.
