Jaya Pradha was born as Lalita Rani on April 3rd 1962 in Andhra Pradesh, India. Jaya began her career as a dancer and did many stage performances; her first break was in a Tamil movie opposite South Superstars Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth. J

aya made a late entry in Bollywood; her first movie was ‘Sargam’ in 1979 where she played a mute dancer. The movie was a superhit and she even won an award for it. Jaya was admired for her beauty and was regarded as one of the prettiest faces in the business. Jaya made a superhit pair with Jeetendra and gave many hit movies with him like ‘Mawali’ and ‘Tohfa’. 

Jaya always faced stiff competition from Sridevi. After acting for 20 years, Jaya finally married Producer Srikanth Nahata. Jaya started her political career in the 90’s and joined the TDP party and became a MP in Rajyasabha. Her differences with Chief Minister of Hyderabad-Chandrababu Naidu later made her join Samjawadi Party.

Jaya is currently acting in movies and is also pursuing her political career.
