Jackie Shroff one of the most handsome and stylish stars in Bollywood, was born as Jaikishen Shroff on February 1st 1958 in a lower middle class family in Mumbai. Jackie grew up in Mumbai’s slum area ‘Teen-batti’ and was considered as a local goon and many even called him ‘Jaggu Dada’. His physique and personality got him many modeling assignments, but was filmmaker Dev Anand, who spotted him and casted for ‘Swami Dada’.

Subhash Ghai, who was looking for a new face for his movie ‘Hero’, auditioned Jackie Shroff and was so impressed by his ‘ tapori’ attitude that he casted him in the lead for his ‘Hero’. The movie became a blockbuster and made Jackie a star overnight. Jackie started signing big banner movies and his next ‘Yudh’ was a huge success as well, his co-star Anil Kapoor and he made a great pair; the duo delivered many superhits like ‘Andar Bahar’, ‘Karma’, ‘Ram Lakhan’ and ‘Parinda’.

Jackie Shroff tied the knot with his long time girlfriend Ayesha in the 80’s. The couple has two kids-a son and a daughter. Jackie was regarded as one of the most stylish actors in Bollywood in the 90’s; he also promoted designer Anna Singh in the industry. In the mid- 90’s Jackie Shroff got a bit too aggressive with his career and started signing almost every movie that came his way and that sure hampered his star image.

Jackie ventured into film production with Jackie Shroff Entertainment Limited and produced a film called ‘Grahaan’, which flopped. The biggest blow however; was when his mega budget movie ‘Boom’ also failed miserably thus, making the actor almost bankrupt. Jackie Shroff tried making a comeback as an actor, but as age has faded his looks he could not bag a lead and started settling for character roles; Filmmaker Subhash Ghai offered him a dad’s character in ‘Yaadien’, which the actor readily accepted.

Jackie has been one of the most generous actors in Bollywood; he has been sponsoring many street children and providing them employment opportunities. The actor feels that as he has also risen from rags to riches it’s his human duty to protect the homeless kids. Jackie’s son Tiger is also ready to make his debut as an actor. Jackie Shroff is one of the most affable and one of those non-controversial actors’ in the business and his attitude has sure taken him places.
