Govinda was born on the star date January 21st 1963 in Mumbai to Arun and Nirmal Ahuja. Govinda made a debut in ‘Love ‘86’ opposite Neelam which became a big hit. Govinda’s forte dance helped him become a star in Bollywood. Govinda got married to Sunita in 1987 and the couple has two kids. Govinda’s longest association has been with director David Dhawan and the two have given many hits like ‘Shola Aur Shabnam’, ‘Raja Babu’, ‘Hero No 1’, ‘Dewana Mastan’ and to the entire No. 1 series. Govinda has given the maximum number of comedy hits and is regarded as the most successful actor in comedy movies. He ruled the box office for six straight years.
In 2003, Govinda joined the Congress Party and contested for elections; he was elected in his constituency and went to become a Member of the Parliament (MP). Govinda’s political career was in trouble during the city flooding in July 2005 as the actor was not accessible to the people of his political community.
In 2006, Govinda tried to make a comeback in Bollywood with ‘Salaam–E-Ishq’ and ‘Partner’.
