The most stylish and suave actor, Feroz Khan was born on September 25th 1939 in Bangalore, India to an Afghan father Sadiq Khan and an Iranian mother Fatima. After completing his education in Bangalore, Feroz headed to Mumbai-‘The City of Dreams’ to fulfill his dream of becoming an actor. Feroz’s handsome persona got him his first break in ‘Didi’ in which the main lead was played by actor Sunil Dutt.
For almost five years, Feroz Khan was signed for multi-starrer movies. Feroz Khan’s success in Bollywood inspired his younger brother Sanjay and Akbar Khan to follow their brother’s path to Mumbai and try their luck in cinema. In 1965, Feroz Khan got married to his long time love Sundari Khan and the couple had two kids-daughter Laila and son Fardeen.
Feroz Khan, who was irked playing a second lead, finally decided to turn into a Producer and his first production was ‘Apradh’ in which he paired opposite his close buddy Mumtaz. The movie however; failed to do good business.
In 1975, after being inspired by Godfather, Feroz produced ‘Dharmatma’, which became a super duper hit. Feroz Khan was famous for always going with the screen name ‘Rajesh’ or ‘Rakesh’ as he believed they got him good luck. In 1980, Feroz Khan produced and acted in the biggest movie of his career ‘Qurbani’ in which he casted the sex symbol of the 70’s- Zeenat Aman and actor Vinod Khanna. ‘Qurbani’ went on to become a blockbuster and Feroz was even linked to Zeenat Aman after the movie. Feroz Khan’s flirtatious behavior forced his wife Sundari to file for divorce.
Feroz Khan continued producing movies and delivered another hit ‘Jaanbaaz’ with Anil Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia. In 1988, it was his ‘Dayavan’ with Vinod Khanna which broke records at the box-office. ‘Yalgaar’ with Sanjay Dutt and Kabir Bedi proved to be a success as well. The music of all Feroz Khan’s movies has famously topped the charts.
In 1998, Feroz Khan launched his son Fardeen Khan in ‘Prem Aggan’ which failed to make an impact and so did his next directed movie ‘Janasheen’. Feroz Khan was awarded the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000. In 2006, Feroz Khan created a controversy when he was visiting Pakistan to promote his brother Akbar Khan’s movie ‘Taj Mahal’. The actor commented on the Government of Pakistan and the actor is now banned from entering Pakistan.
Feroz plans a remake of ‘Qurbani’, but it starts with a ‘K’ this time. Even tough the actor is in his late’s 60’s, Feroz Khan continues to keep up to his classy image and is regarded as one of the most stylish actors in Bollywood.
