Dimple Kapadia
Dimple Kapadia was born on June 8th 1957 to a Gujarati businessman Chunnibhai and his foreigner wife Betty. As a teenager, Dimple decided to pursue an acting career and her parents were supportive of it.
Dimple auditioned for Raj Kapoor’s ‘Bobby’ and got selected for the role when she was barley sixteen. Dimple made an impressive debut in ‘Bobby’ and became the sex symbol of the 70’s. Dimple however; gave up her career and got married to the Rajesh Khanna-the Superstar of 70’s.
Dimple and Rajesh became the most famous Bollywood couple of their times and had two daughters Twinkle and Rinkie. Dimple marriage didn’t last long as she filed for separation in 1980. Dimple made a comeback in 1984 with ‘Zakhmi Dil’, but it was Ramesh Sippy’s ‘Sagar’ that got the actress back in business; the movie also helped her re-establish her sex symbol status. Dimple also had a clandestine affair with actor Sunny Deol.
Dimple endorsed ‘Crowning Glory’ in the 80’s as she was admired for her tresses. Later on in her career, Dimple decided to experiment her talent in parallel cinema and won appreciation for her role in Gulzar’s ‘Lekin’. Dimple was back with her classy blistering magic in ‘Dil Chatha Hai’’ the audiences were flabbergasted by her histrionics.
Dimple runs a candle making business. Dimple’s daughter Twinkle and Rinkie are both actresses and her son-in-law is the famous superstar Akshay Kumar who is married to his older daughter Twinkle.
