Ashmit Patel was born on the New Year Day January 1st 1970 in the famous Patel Family; his grandfather Rajni Patel was a reputed lawyer of his times. Ashmit graduated from the University of Texas and then, returned to India and joined his family business.

His sister Amisha Patel became a star in Bollywood awith ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’ and that inspired Ashmit to pursue a career in Bollywood as well. He started assisting Amisha’s boyfriend Vikram Bhatt for ‘Awara Pagal Dewanaa’.

Vikram also launched him in Bollywood in his next directorial venture titled ‘Inteha’. Ashmit however; failed to make an impression on the audiences.

Bhatt casted Ashmit in ‘Murder’ opposite Mallika Sherawat and the movie did prove lucky for the actor as he was finally got recognized in Bollywood.

‘Silsilay’ came next with a lot of controversies for Ashmit as just prior to the release of the movie an MMS posing him making love to Riya was circulated and many alleged that it was a cheap stunt planned by Ashmit.

Ashmit proved his mettle as an actor in ‘Banaras’ opposite Urmila and was applauded for his performance. Ashmit also supported his parents when his sister Amisha dragged them to the court regarding some financial dispute.

Ashmit played another challenging role in ‘Dil Diya Hai’ in which he plays the mafia Don. From a spiritual soul in ‘Banaras’ to a mafia Don in ‘Dil Diya Hai’, Ashmit has proved his versatility as an actor.
