Amrita Singh - Amrita Singh was born on February 9th 1958 is a Punjabi family to an army officer Shivnder Singh. Her mom Rukhsana Sultana was a renowned socialite from Pakistan. Amrita is also related to the famous book writer Khushwant Singh.
Amrita’s mom persuaded her to take a film career after she graduated. Amrita made her debut at twenty-five opposite Sunny Deol in ‘Betaab’. Amrita had a great career and acted in many big hits like ‘Mard’, ‘Chameli Ki Shaadi’, ‘Sahib’, ‘Naam’, ‘Waaris’ and ‘Aaina’. After working for 10 years, Amrita settled down with actor Saif Ali Khan, who was twelve younger to her.
Amrita gave up her career after marriage and gave birth to a daughter Sara and son Ibrahim. Amrita, who was happily settled with her kids, had to file for divorce in 2004 when husband Saif Ali Khan started having an extra-marital affair. She even went to the extent of freezing all bank accounts. Amrita won the case she filed against Saif and got a huge alimony and the custody of her kids.
Amrita was forced to return to her acting career and she relauched her career with television in Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Kavyaanjali’ and later signed Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Kalyug’.
