Ajay Devgan

Ajay Devgan was born on April 2nd 1967 to Veena Devgan and the famous Bollywood’s Action Director Veeru Devgan in Mumbai. As a kid, Ajay would accompany his dad on movie sets and that’s when he decided to become an actor. Getting a break in Bollywood was not easy for Ajay as many rejected him saying that he didn’t quite have an actor face. In 1990 however; Ajay got his first break in Kuku Kohli’s ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ opposite Madhoo. The actor took complete advantage of this opportunity and even performed some daring stunts under the direction of his Dad. ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ was a superhit and Ajay even won the best debut actor award in 1991 for the movie. Ajay carved his niche as an action hero and was flooded with offers. Ajay Devgan started dating actress Karishma Kapoor after the two met during the making of ‘Jigar’, however; the relationship didn’t last too long. Ajay met actress Kajol during ‘Hulchul’ and the two clicked right away and became Bollywood’s hottest couple. Ajay, who continued his commitment towards action movies for six years, finally realized it was time to reinvent the wheels, so he went ahead and signed a comedy genre movie ‘Ishq’ and the romantic drama ‘Pyar To Hona Hi Tha’ ,both with Kajol as his co-star. The movies were declared a superhit as the audiences loved their pair and also; the new Ajay. Ajay Devgan finally tied the knot to his five year old girlfriend Kajol on February 24th 1999 in a low profile wedding.

In 1999 Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Hum Dil de Chuke Sanam’ changed Ajay’s career as for the first time he got to portray his emotional facet as an actor and received raved review from the critics for his brilliant performance. Ajay also won a National Award for his performance in ‘Zakhm’. Ajay gave some outstanding performances in ‘Lajja’, ‘Company’, ‘Bhoot’ and ‘Dewangee’. Ajay also; acted in the ‘Legend of Bhagat Singh’, a performance for which he yet again won the National Award and Filmfare’s Critic Award for Best Performance. In 2003, Ajay became a Dad as his wife Kajol delivered a bonny baby whom the couple named ‘Nysa’. Ajay has proved his mettle as an actor by doing movies of different genre-comedy, drama, action and emotion. Ajay has a flair for cars and in 2006 he purchased a Maserati. Ajay has been appreciated for his performances in ‘Kaal’, ‘Main Aisa Hi Hoon’, ‘Raincoat’ and ‘Golmaal’. Ajay has been applauded for his performance in ‘Omkara’ which is to-date regarded as his career’s best. Ajay with his wife Kajol endorses Whirlpool and Tata Indicom. Macho Ajay has been chosen as the brand ambassador for Mc Dowell’s. Ajay Devgan continues to be one of the most dependable actors in Bollywood.
