Abhay Deol is the nephew of the famous yesteryear actor Dharamendra and cousin of Sunny and Bobby Deol. After graduating from Mumbai University, Abhay headed to Los Angeles and studied Fine Arts. After completing a two year acting course, Abhay answered to his Bollywood calling by coming to India and joining the Hindi cinema.

Abhay was launched by his older brother Sunny Deol in ‘Socha Na Tha’; the movie took around three years to complete, but once the movie was released Abhay impressed everyone by delivering a knockout performance. Abhay has also designed a Prince-Madonna mural for the famous DJ Aqeel.

Abhay carved his own niche in the industry and chose to do meaningful cinema; his next movie ‘Ahista Ahista’ belonged to the parallel cinema genre and he won accolades for his natural performance. Abhay was also rumored to be romantically linked to his co-star Soha Ali Khan. Abhay’s next is Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Honeymoon Travels’ in which his co-star is the cute Minnisha Lamba, the two made news over a fight during the shoot of the movie. Abhay is also working with Neha Dhupia in ‘1:40 Ki Local’ and with Raima Sen in ‘Manorama Six Feet Under’.

So far the actor has done 6 movies and coincidentally all are with debutante directors. If the actor is not busy shooting, he likes to spend time with his brothers- he loves going for a swim with Bobby or having lunch with Sunny Deol. Abhay is one of the first Deol clan, who moved out of the joint family and is living independently in his Juhu condo; the actor blames it to his living abroad habit as he likes to be more independent.

Abhay is gradually making his place in Bollywood. The actor is considered to be down to earth and highly modest.
